The Dewitt Jr Dragons this year are working towards another great season. The Jr Dragons are expecting 25-30 players this year with many returning starters and a lot that contributed to last year's success. The Jr Dragons will be lead by three returning offensive linemen in Reese Barnett, Josh Haynes and Warren Pollard. Eighth graders Evan Watkins and Wyatt Jones look to round out what should be a dominant offensive line. The quarterback position has been a tough competition between Carson Mitchell and Grayson Riggins with both showing good command of the offense. The running back position will be by committee as well as receiver.
The Jr. Dragon Defense will be anchored at linebacker by Owen St. John and Landon Simpson. Trey Lacotts looks to receive a lot of playing time also. David Pace and Riggins excel at outside linebacker along with AJ Williams and Ashton Davenport. The Secondary will be made up of Jamarian (NUNU) Cohen, Cody Burns, Mitchell and others. "There is an excitement to get out on the field and get to play football" says Head JR High Coach Doug Milholen.
The Jr. Dragons will play on Thursday Nights at 7:00.
The 7th grade Dragons will look to expand on their very successful pee wee campaign last year. Coach Matt Barnes is really looking forward to expanding on their knowledge of the game of football and incorporating them into the Dragon Football Program. "I've heard a lot of outstanding things about this bunch and look forward to coaching them," says Coach Barnes. The 7th grade plays on Thursday Nights at 5:30 before the Jr Dragons.
